My Weekend with Deepak Chopra

DeepakI was 10-15 feet away from Deepak Chopra as he shared his knowledge on science, spirituality and consciousness with us for 10 ½ hours over three days. He also led us through some meditation practices. I had to pinch myself a few times to make sure the mesmerizing voice I was listening to and meditating with was actually Deepak Chopra live and in person. As some of you know, I have been meditating almost daily now for nine months utilizing recorded meditations led by Deepak.

This weekend event was held at Kripalu in Lenox Massachusetts. The jumping off topic for Deepak was to discuss his latest book, “Super Brain” – Unleashing the Explosive Power of Your Mind to Maximize Health, Happiness and Spiritual Well-Being. This is the 58th book that he has written. In a few days, I’ll write more about what we learned and give you an easy link to buy the book at Amazon if you like what you hear from me.

When Deepak was asked as part of a promotional piece for this event, what he planned to cover with us, he said I don’t know actually I’ll decide once I get there. Reminds me of someone I know.

No surprise that Deepak himself obviously has a Super Brain. He shared some very complex scientific knowledge about how the brain functions and how our mind and body uses it. Each hour you were with him, he brought you to a point where you collectively said “holy –it”- I actually get what he is talking about. I was also delighted that besides helping us to think about how we might make our own brain Super, he  lead us in meditations and also discussed a new project he was leading called the “Consciousness Project.”      Note: I also will write a post this week about the Consciousness Project.

I left the weekend feeling like it had been another “crossing over” event in my life much like Woodstock had been. What more could a Boomer ask for at this stage in her life?                How lucky am I!

Meditating News for You

Tomorrow Deepak is starting a new 21 Day Meditation Challenge. Don’t worry if you don’t see this post today – go there whenever you have read my post. This one like the one in March is presented in partnership by Oprah Winfrey and Deepak. Go to this link so you can find out more about how to register for it.

It’s free and your meditations are only about 15 minutes long (assuming they follow the same format as the last few). You can do them whenever you like. Each morning you receive an e-mail with the meditation for that day. You will be doing the same meditation on the same day along with most likely 100,000+ people from all over the globe. Go Boomers – let’s mellow out and fix the world.
