Madeira Island is 35 miles long and 13 miles wide.  I was recently speaking about Maine to Marco and Antonio.  Both of them want to come to the States. I was telling them that Boston was only 2 hours away. They laughed hysterically and said we could probably go from coast to coast  – 4 or 5 times here in 2 hours.

Madeira is Magical – I am so drawn to this island. Obrigada.

Madeira is located in the center of the Gulf Stream and in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a rugged and extreme geography due to its volcanic origins. The highest peak is 6 km from the floor of the Atlantic.

Warm temperatures are maintained throughout the year averaging between 64-75 degrees F with sea temperatures between 63-79 F.

Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal. It was discovered by Prince Henry the Navigator in 1419.

It has a population of roughly 250,000 – 40% of it concentrated in Funchal.

I am looking at options to somehow use my business talents here. I want to help individuals like Marco and Antonio, who both love the sea so much, to live on Madeira but have business ties with the US. Their dreams would have feet planted here but have reasons to also split their time in the good old USA.

I have to learn to speak Portuguese. It is on my 2016 to do list.
